This article looks at the difficulties associated with introducing video interviewing platforms into any organization and provides potential solutions to overcome them. It identifies seven challenges that need to be addressed, which include lack of familiarity, the need to train for consistency, recognition of non-verbal cues, increased bias risk, technical issues, diminishing humanity, and elevated costs. The article outlines strategies that can be employed to address each of these issues, such as providing regular training, introducing controls on system bias, and focusing systems on areas such as culture fit and team collaboration. It is concluded that while there are many challenges to using video interviewing platforms, they can be addressed with an appropriate plan and understanding of the particular issues.
