This article examines how Artificial Intelligence (AI) is currently being used for hiring decisions, and suggests that it has the potential to improve hiring significantly, but should not be solely relied on for making the decision. Rather, AI may be most effective when used to supplement traditional HR methods, such as assessing resumes and conducting interviews. AI can help identify potential biases such as gender discrimination, but can be limited in understanding context and interpersonal qualities. Automated online assessments can provide an opportunity for standardizing the process for large pools of job candidates, but can also lead to decreased diversity if candidates who don't fit the algorithmic requirements are not considered. It is recommended that companies have guidelines and transparency when implementing AI for hiring decisions to ensure fairness and accuracy.
