This article outlines four ways in which talent acquisition teams can move away from merely being a cost center to instead becoming a strategic asset to their company. The first is for recruiting teams to focus on more data-driven recruitment, allowing them to make smarter decisions about their hiring and enabling them to accurately track the effectiveness of their efforts. Secondly, recruiting should be seen as a joint effort between the recruiters and the hiring managers that involves them collaborating to generate and identify a pipeline of candidates. Thirdly, recruiting departments should proactively seek out potential hiring opportunities through activities such as researching future talent needs and promoting the company’s employer value proposition. Lastly, companies should prioritize communication between recruiting and other departments to ensure alignment on how talent acquisition functions.
