This article discusses the importance of ethical considerations when deploying AI in HR for recruitment, compliance, performance management, and workforce management. It is suggested that companies embrace the three pillars of ethical deployment when implementing AI tools in HR: transparency, accountability, and fairness. Transparency requires that companies fully disclose AI-driven decisions. Accountability requires that companies are held fully accountable for any harms that arise due to AI. Last, fairness requires that the potential risks of AI are mitigated and that algorithms are unbiased and free of discriminatory practices or decisions. Companies must also be aware of regulatory considerations such as data protection laws and other labor laws.
