LinkedIn recently conducted research into the state of middle management and found that the landscape is changing and most companies are looking to replace traditional management structures. The study found that certain qualities are necessary for talent leaders: the ability to think critically and creatively, to bring teams together, and to inspire diverse and global teams. Companies are increasingly leaning towards distributed leadership structures, which rely on people to act as talent leaders and manage other members of the team. In addition, it found that many employers are taking a more holistic approach to managing talent, considering soft skills in addition to hard skills and creating support systems to help talent leaders do their jobs.
